Updating Your Copyright Notice

I’ve recently stopped putting a year on my online copyright notices so I don’t have to bother updating them. (Why be bothered?)

If your ‘urgent’ sales letter still says “Copyright 2004″ at the bottom, it may be hurting sales. (IE, what’s the urgency, this thing’s been around for 3 years)

Online, everyone is looking for the newest update – And even though it’s stupid, your product or post or comment may be considered less relevant to readers if there’s an old copyright date on the page. It’s just a prejudice some people have, so no reason to feed the fear.

I started out calling this post “Updating Your Copyright Notice 2007″, because I’m writing it in January 2007, but the suggestion will be just as relevant in 2008 and beyond, so I removed the “2007″, because by dating the post it may less likely to be read in future years. :-)
