There’s No Such Thing As “Good” Weather

It always bugs me when television weathermen say, “We’re in for some good weather tomorrow…”

Good For WHO?

I understand that what they mean is there’ll be clear skies in the mid 80′s, etc. But is that GOOD FOR EVERYBODY?

  • What about snowboarders waiting for it to snow?
  • What about farmers desperate for rain?
  • What about the guy who spent his life savings on umbrellas and hasn’t been able to sell one yet?
  • What about the flashing pervert who looks out of place in his raincoat unless there are dark clouds in the sky? (heh)

Similarly, don’t get lulled into accepting that certain actions or events are “good for business”, “good for the troops”, “good for America”, “good for consumers”, “good for investors”, etc.

The truth is much more complicated.

Often, what helps part of one group hurts another part, and vice versa. You’ve got to dig beneath the headlines to get the real story, and then the real work begins: Figuring out how YOU can benefit no matter what weather the future brings.
