What? Isn’t that backwards? I don’t know… Let’s talk about it:
- What’s the motivation/reason behind most crime? -Lack of money
- What do married couples argue the most about? -Lack of money
- What’s the main cause for millions of starving children worldwide? -Lack of money
- …etc., etc
How much good could you do in the world with a billion dollars? With a million? With $10,000?
If you volunteered to work free for a week for a worthy cause, that would be a truly noble and impressive deed.
But if you could legally, ethically, and morally earn an extra $10,000 yourself in a week and donate that money to the charity, they could use the money to hire 20 people to work for them for a week instead.
The end result is that if you had the ability to earn $10,000 in a week and used that money for good, it would do more good than you donating a week of your personal labor.
Does that make money evil? Hardly.
If more money could free you from your current daily grind, let you support your loved ones better, let you spend more time with your family and friends, would that be evil?
In truth, money is just a tool, like a shovel. You can use a shovel to turn the earth and plant a garden, or you can smack somebody over the head with it – But no one would call a shovel evil.
If you’re currently trading money for time (ie, working a job getting paid by the hour), you’ll never be able to leverage money to your maximum benefit. Get your entrepreneurial juices flowing, plant that garden – And then do some good with it.

the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil.
the love, not money itself; and all sorts of evil, not all evil.
