The More You Tell, The More You Sell

I sold some large items on Craigslist recently, including a vehicle and some furniture, and it went really well…

In every case, people were ready to buy before they’d even come and looked at the items in person.

Why? Because I took multiple large, clear photos from several angles, and gave detailed descriptions about measurements, condition, etc.

You know… The stuff people actually want to know before they buy!

I also pointed out any flaws the items might have; After all, they were going to see them when they came to look at it anyway.

In contrast, there are websites selling furniture online (which by definition means they’re selling large, expensive items sight-unseen by buyers) who provided less information than I did in my recent Craigslist ads.

For instance, couches that didn’t list their actual measurements so potential buyers could check to see if they would fit the space they needed.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Here’s the good news though: As a marketer and a seller, you WANT the competition to be stupid. The more mistakes they make, the more advantage you have over them by doing more things right.

I help people make more money by getting them to do more things right. If you’re not already subscribed to my free email newsletter, you should… I share lots of things that I don’t cover on this blog. Just enter your name and email in the top right-hand corner of this page.
