Sometimes it seems like all the good ideas are taken…
Especially if your idea is to sell crumpled up pieces of paper for $10 apiece.
If you’ve:
- never really believed that it’s the story that sells a product, not the product itself…
- never really believed that art is in the eye of the beholder…
- never really believed that a lot of things don’t have much intrinsic value of their own other than what your sales process creates for it…
then it’s time you visited Origami Boulder.
It’s a completely tongue-in-cheek website offering to sell you a wadded up piece of paper as art – for $10.
…And people buy. Why? Because it gives them a funny story to tell, and that’s worth $10.
Take a look at the website, Origami Boulder, and be sure to check out the “Letters from dumb dumbs” page, although some might find parts of it offensive. It’s hysterical.
(I also like the $3 “performance art” where nothing actually gets mailed to you.)
So what can we learn here?
Well… If you’re ripping your hair out trying to find something sell online, maybe it’s time to dumb it down. (?)
