My Recommended Business Blogs: A Short List

I’ve just added some recommended Internet business blogs in my blogroll (Scroll down the right side of the screen to find the links)

There are obviously a ton of business blogs out there, many of them full of hype and self-promotion, or poorly written or providing low-level information.

Here’s a short list of some the Internet business blogs I tend to keep an eye on.

Ed Rivis – Ed provides a lot of very good marketing info, and he does it very responsibly. No hype, for instance he clearly identifies his affiliate links when he promotes something (not that I think it’s necessary to do, but it goes along with his vibe).  He gives huge incentives to get readers to subscribe to his blog updates by email by posting very valuable items for download… but you only get the password if you were already subscribed when he posted it – Otherwise it’s too late.

Michel Fortin - Very successful and prolific copywriter… A few years ago I was reviewing sales letters on various websites, and I thought, “Weird, most of these ads feel like they were written by the same guy”… turned out, they were!  Michel’s blog and free copywriting forum are bursting with updates and activity, he strongly promotes his own products and services but he gives so much free info that it doesn’t matter.

Paul Galloway – Paul’s the “behind the scenes” programmer for a lot of the big-name online marketing gurus, and he’s one of only two people I trust to have unfettered access to my servers… and that’s saying a lot. Paul doesn’t post to his blog much, but he provides great info, some of it from his Little Black Book (not an affiliate link :-) )

PQinternet - Fred Black focuses on SEO techniques, and he shows his stuff by being #1 for a Google search of “Internet business”. Entertaining guy, lots of valuable info. His blog also turned me on to disabling the NoFollow tag that is auto-installed in WordPress for comments. (IE, unless you turn it off by installing a plugin, people commenting on your WordPress blog won’t give an SEO link back to them for their trouble.)

Terry Dean -  Terry is very results/example oriented like I am, listing A/B split test results and hard facts instead of theoretical ideas (don’t get me started about gurus who sell you stuff they’ve never tested themselves, grrr….)  His paid subscription newsletter is definitely worth paying for.

Michael Campbell -Internet Marketing Secrets blog. Michael’s been around a long time and is big on help, very low on hype. His original products involved with affiliate marketing through keyword SEO methods, lately he’s been focusing more on Podcasting & Blogging. Trustworthy.

Jack Humphrey – Big Web 2.0 Expert; In other words, Blogs, Social Networking Sites, Video, Podcasting. Very helpful video tutorials, big on info & low on hype. (Are you starting to see a trend with what I like?)

All of those blogs are worth reading for their content, and they’re also good role models for you to follow to learn how to balance content versus promotion in your own writing.

I’m the only idiot sucker chump monkey who doesn’t try to sell anything and just gives it all away for free. But then again, I’m not quite right in the head.

There are of course quite a few other business blogs I could list, and I’ll be adding more as time goes on.
