Increasing Opt-Ins & Getting More Traffic

A reader writes:

I have finally got a website http://www.secretvideoprofits.com. a squeeze page and an autoresponder……so how do I get traffic without spending heaps on adwords or dozens of hours on article writing? Thanks… Anthony

A couple observations, Anthony:

1) Your “Squeeze Page” (its only purpose is to get free opt-ins for more info) is acting too much like a sales letter – ie, too much information. Much like you’re not supposed to sell too much in a classified ad (the only goal is to get them to take the next step), I believe a Squeeze Page should offer one huge benefit. If you can’t fit the whole thing within one 1024-height browser window, you’re saying too much.

In your case, you’re offering your free opt-ins a video training series on Internet marketing. That’s enough. Don’t list the info about the “Profit Pulling Mini-Sites Reports, etc, it just complicates things. Right now it looks like a sales pitch, you may be losing people who assume it costs money.

Try just using a headline, give a few strong bullet points, use this short snippet from your testimonials: “I would have saved 100s of dollars and 1000s of hours of research and pain if at all I had got access to these videos when I got started”… and give them the opt-in form. Clear benefit, clear way to get it, not much to read.

That should increase your opt-in rate significantly. Start selling them one they’ve opted in.

2) Getting Traffic to your site: I’d consider getting other people to distribute some of the videos for you. Either:

• Sell some of the videos with resell rights that link back to you with a free opt-in offer to capture their names/emails (Stress that it makes a great bonus, that it can be added to membership sites, etc, the goal is to get as much distribution as possible)
• Start an affiliate program and pay BIG commissions to get people interested

There has to be a motivation for other sites to link to you or to even give away your stuff. I don’t know what all you have that you can “break up” to sell with resell rights, but do some brainstorming and think what would motivate other marketers the most to distribute (either selling or giving away) some lead-in product that will bring you free prospects.
