It’s 10:30am and I just got back from the gym. I usually go in the afternoon, but sometimes when I need to clear my head I’ll go earlier and then work afterwards.
I use heavy weights and only rest for 30 seconds in between sets. Because of this, most people who were at the gym when I get there are still there when I leave… and more importantly, month to month, they never seem to be getting in better shape.
After my workout, I got on a treadmill and ran the “Fireman Fitness Test”, which keeps increasing the pace every minute until it feels like your lungs are going to burst.
The guy to my left was reading a book while he was on the treadmill…
Guess which one of us got the better workout?
It’s easy to go through the motions and pretend you accomplished something at the end of the day. It’s harder to stay focused and “go deep”, getting as much done (and the most important things done) as quickly as possible.
