#2 -Alternative Affiliate Marketing Methods w/out adwords, articles, blogging, or SEO
By Tim Gross - Internet Business Blog | March 28, 2007
Continuing from my last post, you said you’re not interested in article writing, blogging, or search engine optimization.
-In other words, you’re not interested in having to write content. All 3 of those methods can work, but it takes time, patience, and effort. Let’s review them quickly:
Writing short, informative related articles with interesting headlines and including searched-for keywords which you then post to article directories online works.
You then either link to your website which endorses/links to an affiliate program product, or you link directly to the affiliate program product from the article itself (although some article directories don’t allow affiliate links in their articles, and additionally if that affiliate product is discontinued, you’re out of luck if you’ve linked directly to it from the article. Better to link to your website, so you can change your affiliate link/endorsement over time as needed.
Upside: It works, and there’s no cost to write and post articles.
Downside: It’s time consuming (Takes 30-45 minutes to write an article) and there’s no guarantee how much traffic you’ll get from it or how long it will take.
Again you’re writing articles, although instead of posting to article directories, you’re posting to your own website blog. (You’re reading a blog right now, if you don’t know what a blog is!)
Upside: Virtually free. You’re potentially building an asset. You can get free visitors from search engine results, blog searches, links from other blogs, etc.
Downside: Again, it’s time consuming, you can’t control the results. There’s a learning curve involved.
I’ve never been interested in sacrificing content for search engine optimization. If I’m writing content (articles, blog posts, etc), I’ll keep searched-for keywords in mind as I’m writing, to try to get naturally found by related keyword searches, but I’ve never bothered with SEO “formulas” and building websites solely for the purpose of being found by search engines.
It was always my assumption (and I was right) that these types of semi-useless sites would lose search engine ranking as the search engines got smarter.
Upside: Free traffic when you’re naturally found in search engine results.
Downside: Can’t control the results, learning curve, search engines are fickle, famous “Google Slap” where you suddenly drop from their listings due to a change in the way they rank sites, etc.
(I know people who’s entire online businesses are built on their search engine rankings. They’re terrified than any day they could lose their position and practically be out of business. You’ve got to diversify how you get customers during the good times to avoid the bad times.)
So what’s the quickest way to make money as an affiliate without using any of these methods? The answer is… in the next post! ![]()
