Why Aren’t Some Affiliates Promoting You?
By Tim Gross - Internet Business Blog | May 30, 2008
Everybody loves affiliate sales, they’re risk-free because you don’t have to pay a commission until after a sale is made, as opposed to spending money on paid advertising.
If making sales from affiliates is an important part of your online business, it makes sense to create your sales letter & sales process to be attractive to potential affiliates. The problem is, different affiliates have different personal opinions about what they think will work or not work, and what they’re looking for.
Make your sales letter to hypey, and some affiliates might not promote it because they think it looks like a scam.
Make your sales letter to dry, and some affiliates might promote it because they don’t think sales will be good.
Use a “squeeze page” (ie, force visitors to subscribe to your free newsletter before they can get more info on the product), and some affiliates won’t want to promote you, while others may have had good experiences with other squeeze page offers and be happy to send their subscribers to your squeeze page.
Use an aggressive exit popup script that offers a discount if readers buy now instead of leave your website, and some affiliates will glad for those extra sales they create… others might think the popup script is deceptive and not want to promote it.
…I think you get the point.
I’m not going to try to tell you what you should be doing, because while a lot of marketers pretend that all niches are the same, the truth is that they’re not.
The only way to find out for sure is to ask for feedback on your sales process from potential affiliates, and even consider having multiple landing pages for affiliates to promote (with/without squeeze page, exit popup, etc),
Spending the time to tailor your sales process so that it gets more affiliate promotion will be time and effort well spent.
