Buying A Lottery Ticket (Quick Joke…)

Joke: A man prays ever night to win the lottery… as time goes on, his prayers become more urgent. One night he says, “God, I pray for this night after night, why haven’t you answered my prayer?”
Suddenly the voice of God responds: “You need to meet me halfway on this… You need to buy a ticket.”
Heh. A long time ago I worked in a restaurant in L.A. and most of the employees were aspiring actors/actresses. One night the bartender said to me, “You know, when I moved here from Louisiana a year ago, I never thought I’d still be working at a restaurant a year later!”
So I asked her:
- Have you gone on any acting auditions? “No.”
- Do you have an agent? “No.”
- Have you gotten headshots taken for a portfolio? “No.”
Well, no offense to my friend, but the surprising thing would’ve been if she’d somehow become successful !
The worst thing about worry is that it takes a lot of energy - in fact, it’s a lot of work. It leaves you too tired/frustrated to take action. The “power of positive thinking” isn’t about having undeserved good fortune dropped in your lap while you sit back and wait for it, it’s about creating the motivated mind-set that gets you to get off your butt and take action to accomplish those things.
So whether it’s buying a lottery ticket (eh, not recommended), getting head-shots done, tweaking an ad to try to improve response, looking for new JV partners, testing ads in different media on a regular basis, remember: Good things happen to those who take action.
