Gratuitous Link To Robert Plank’s Blog…

By Tim Gross - Internet Business Blog | April 28, 2008

I posted to a forum asking Wordpress users if their Theme showed Trackback URL’s automatically, and Robert said that when people linked to his Wordpress blog directly that they got a Trackback automatically, even if they didn’t use the Trackback URL.

So… Here’s a link to Robert Plank’s blog specifically, an article he wrote about how to break up blog content and deliver it over time.

That’s a normal URL, and I put the same URL in the Trackbacks field below as well.

So if this goes through as a Trackback (Edit: It did go through), then you don’t need the actual Trackback link, you just need to put the normal URL in the Trackback field below the post… In which case, the only benefit if having a physical Trackback URL is to let your readers know for certain that they can use Trackbacks with your site, which makes it more likely they’ll link to you.
