If You Want To Make More Money, Get More Exercise
By Tim Gross - Internet Business Blog | April 16, 2008
I’m writing you a quick note before I head out to the gym…
When I’m busy it’s easy to skip exercising, but I try my best to work out regularly because:
- It makes me feel better
- It makes me look better
- It makes me more money
Yep. Years ago, I wrote my first Million Dollar Sales Letter (ie, it did over $1,000,000 in sales) while in the middle of a brutal 16-week fitness program that got me in the best shape of my life.
Yeah, it was hard - But after about 6-8 weeks, I was waking up in the morning without feeling groggy, my heart rate was down over 20 bpm, my head was clearer, and I was more productive.
-And that made me more money.
Whenever I go jogging or go mountain biking next to my house, I always take an audio recorder with me. Why? It’s amazing how many ideas come into my head as I’m in the middle of strenous exercise. (Do you carry an audio recorder and/or pen and paper with you at all times? You never know when you’ll get an idea you want to remember.)
And when I’m overwhelmed with my To-Do List, moving heavy weights does a better job than anything else of clearing my head and helping me knuckle down and get things done.
So yes, my level of income is related to my level of fitness. So if you’ve been meaning to get in better shape and the potential fear of a heart attack doesn’t motivate you, maybe the bribe of making more money will.
I’d write more, but this post isn’t making me any money… And my trip to the gym WILL!
-To your success AND fitness, Tim Gross
PS - If you’re drinking at the end of the day to relieve stress and unwind, what your body really wants is exercise instead, we’ve just been programmed to think “It’s Miller Time”, because it turns out alcohol companies don’t make money when you jog.

Great article I totally agree with you that the fitter you are the more money you make, I go the gym on a regular basis & find that my head is much clearer, I think better, my body is fitter & most important I feel better about myself.
I also recommend Sauna’s & Steam Rooms to clense your skin & you feel great afterwards.

Tim, I have found this to be true as well and it sometimes makes it difficult to say on the treadmill in my office that I use when the weather is ugly outside. I’ll be running or walking and thinking about something else entirely when a *brilliant* idea will pop into my head seemingly out of no where.
I do know from reading about creativity and how the mind works that there have been studies about this and it is sometimes referred to as a ‘processing period’ that can only take place when you actively stop thinking about a problem. It’s kind of like letting an operation go on in the background while you’re working on something else on your computer.
I recently signed up for a new online/phone service called Jott for exactly this reason. I’m just starting to use it. It allows you to use your cell phone rather than a recorder and transcribes the notes for you…and currently it’s free. I am not affiliate with this service but simply thought it was worth mentioning.
