Why You Need Your Product on Amazon.com

If you have a product that can be sold through Amazon.com, it may be worth your while to do it, even if you don’t anticipate that it’ll make you many actual sales.
The reason: Exposure
People use Amazon to search for things, and you want to be found in those searches. Here’s a case-study of how to do it right:
I was looking for video training on a music software program “Reason” by Propellerhead software. Searching Google wasn’t getting me immediate results, so I did a search on Amazon. The 3rd listing I saw said:
* macproVideo.com - Mastering Propellerhead’s Reason
It listed the item for sale, but of interest is that they listed their URL in the title of the listing. Needing more info before I bought (all video training is not created equal), I went to their website, which had sample video (which is exactly what I want to see before purchasing video training), AND other video training that I did not see listed on Amazon’s site.
I wouldn’t have found them searching Google, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Whether I purchase directly from them or through their Amazon.com listing isn’t the important part - The bottom line is that I found them through their Amazon listing, and after the initial purchase I’m a prime candidate to purchase more of their related video products in the future.
Conclusion: Get your product listed on Amazon to test the results. Yes, they get a cut of every product sold through Amazon, but you also have zero advertising costs to make the sale, so depending on your numbers, it may actually be a plus.
